The Power of Pollinators
This is Pollinator Month and June 21-27 was world pollinator week. This is one of the two important reasons we are sharing this vital project with the world now!
The Lighting Up the Darkness™ project encourages pollinators all over our planet, year-round. When we want to transform spaces, purposeful planting is one of the most powerful ways to do this. Incorporating native species into the project is key. This is one of the most simple yet powerful ways to transform the land, the energies within and around it. This is true, no matter where one lives on the planet. We will be sharing more about how and why this entire process works very soon. For now, let's touch on the Power of Pollinators.
Most people on our planet do not fully understand or appreciate how important pollinators are to all our lives. Pollinators are essential species. - Many of which are threatened. Their lives are connected to ours. Coffee, flowers, and food are just a few joys in life we can thank pollinators for gifting us.
It's estimated 75% of food sources in our world are dependent on pollination. More than 200,000 species of pollinators are critical to the growth of our food supply. Without pollinators we would go hungry. Bees, wasps, yellowjackets, hornets, flies, ants, moths, beetles, bats, birds, lizards, fireflies, and more, all support pollination all over our planet.
A healthy economy, clean air, and safe food can all be linked to pollinators. Pollinators positively affect our lives by supporting wildlife, creating a healthy watershed, and so much more! However, due to increased pollution and invasive non-native plants, pollinators are in danger of extinction.
We Have the Power to Empower Pollinators!
As this month wraps up its celebration of the importance of honoring pollinators, we hope this educational push invites people all over the planet to stay inspired through the summer, into the Autumn, and beyond. The The Lighting Up the Darkness™ project hopes you will consider why it's time to create a pollinator-friendly space in your unique corner of the world today. Now is the time to plant with purpose.
Note: This is a VERY brief overview; we will be diving into more detail on more soon!
